When I was a boy and came upon this formation, it looked like a Sphinx to me. It still does. The formation is about 20 feet high on the down slope side and is all Sharon Conglomerate.

I am fortunate to live in a beautiful place. Being on Gildersleeve mountain affords me the opportunity to look out my windows and see what other people have to travel away from home to enjoy. Yet I am just 18 miles from downtown Cleveland, in a metropolitan area of 3 million people. This is a journal of what I observe and my thoughts about those observations.
